A fire at a resort in the Inani area beside Cox's Bazar's Marine Drive has reportedly killed at least ten people. The incident has renewed questions about safety in the country's tourism zones.

The administration has formed a probe committee to establish the cause. It is expected to examine whether fire-fighting systems, approvals and safety rules were in place.

Tourism stakeholders say coastal resorts need regular fire-safety inspections, clearly marked emergency exits and compulsory staff training.
